“Five minutes after the show was over, I wanted to see it again. The night was rainy and it didn’t seem to be about to let up so the organisers unfortunately had to move the performance inside, so I didn’t actually see the show in the open-air theatre with Prambanan as a backdrop, although I did see the set before they decided to move indoors – it would have been absolutely spectacular.”

“I have been practicing these classical Javanese court dances in The Netherlands since I was a kid, so seeing the Ramayana ballet live was truly a dream coming true! The dances, the gamelan music and the Prambanan in the background made everything a super magical experience”

Well, to be just behind the Prambanan temple its a lovely scene! A classic story that tells some of the javanesse beautiful myths, I recommend to learn about the story before watching so its easier to follow. It did start rain while I watched which of course was a bit annoying.. Bring your umbrella.

“The Indonesian buffet is an excellent place to try so many favorites. They have satay, corn soup, noodles and rice, beef, chicken and fish dishes as well as teas, desserts and snake fruit. The tables of 4 allow for good conversation and are located outside under a pavilion. As it is the rainy season, the performance was inside Which means under a pavilion but open at the top for bugs and birds to fly in. It is a cultural enjoyment – the dance and music are representative of some areas of Java”
